WHAT CAN I DO TO INCREASE FRAME RATES? TM4 has a variety of settings that would seemingly make a difference in frame rates. Experimentation has shown, though, that they don't make the kind of difference that you would expect. It would also appear that TM4 does not make good use of high end video cards. In many other sims a great deal of improvement can be obtained by upgrading your video card but that does not seem to be the case here. The only thing proven to increase frame rates with TM4 is a faster processor so if you need better performance you need to upgrade your CPU speed. CAN I EDIT THE GRAPHICS? Yes! Many of the objects and textures used in TM4 are standard bitmaps (BMP files) which you can edit with standard graphics programs such as Adobe PhotoShop. On some objects care must be taken to retain the original object shape as otherwise your changed bitmap will not match the original object mask and you'll end up with some strange looking edges. Also note that most objects are made up of several bitmap files. They are usually grouped with similar file names. Make sure you edit all the files in the group. CAN I CHANGE THE SOUNDS? Unfortunately, it appears that the TM4 sounds are built into the actual program so there is currently no way to get at them and edit them.
